I also thought life wonderful in the 60's and beyond as a youngster. Latex paint I thought was amazing, a technological miracle, did not have to use turpentine on brushes anymore and get the hands all oily and smelly.
Then we landed on the moon and I was so looking forward to life in the not so distant future whereby we would surely have moon colonies by turn of the century 2000, and likely marsonauts circling the red planet soon after. Dream on jimmy.
Then I was drafted into army near time of moon landing but I joined the navy and sent to destroyer ships and did not have to go to Vietnam. But that was ok, at the time I was doing poorly in freshman and sophomore college years. So I get free health care now, for a two year listment.
Then politics started to dawn on me and I even voted for Nixon and once for Reagan, but since then solid dems. Clinton cost Gore the election, I went to protest marches. GWBush was an incompetent Buffoon. Obama restored hope, but trump caved it, then Biden I thought would seal trumps criminal fate but no, Joe a good man somehow became persona non grata and cost us the 2024 election.
So it's been a letdown over the years, and now 2025 on is the putrid icing on the cake as we are perforce made to embrace and suffer with the most corrupt president in our history, as well as a largely corrupt federal govt, federal and state republican congresses and legislatures, and as well a trump friendly Supreme Court.
