3. 6 55 gallon drum of acid is a bit excessive for water treatment

even given the pool and large number of residents on the island.

OTOH, contrary to TV shows, it will not completely dissolve a human body either. That said, the residue and any dental work that survived could easily be dumped in the ocean far from the island. Of course, so could the intact bodies, and without the dangers and mess associated with using acid.
