Crockett labeled President Donald Trump a grifter, called for the deportation of Texas-based billionaire Elon Musk and Palantir Technologies co-founder Peter Thiel, and chastised supporters whom he said were licking their boots.
*****
In the Instagram post, Crockett criticized Trump as someone who is only good at filing lawsuits and portraying himself as a successful businessman on reality TV, calling him a grifter who bankrupted six casinos.
Forgive me if I have a problem with a 34-time convicted felon running this country when I lost the right to vote or own a weapon for years over marijuana, Crockett wrote.
He also took aim at Musk whose aerospace company SpaceX is based in Texas claiming the South Africa-born billionaire is standing in the White House buying our elections. Crockett went on to call for the deportation of Musk and Thiel, writing that the two openly believe in a post-democratic society where men of their class are above the law.

(22,295 posts)The Jason Aldeans...lard-assed good ol' boys in ten gallon hats and shitty "Don Johnson 3 days of Miami Vice beard stubble"...who get the HEADLINES, but in the Country community...ESPECIALLY alt-country...there are guys like Steve Earle, who would not whiz on Trump if he was on fire.

He's political, but not in an overt "Anti-MAGA" way.

When Beyonce came out with a country album and MAGATs went livid angry, he defended her very eloquently on his show
He does the Hardcore Troubadour show on XM Outlaw country

(3,137 posts)Like Willie Nelson, Charlie is extremely popular with liberal Texans. Of course, he does have his share of conservative fans too - but
I would not say it is the majority. I don't know how many times to say this - but the major urban centers in Texas; Dallas, Austin, San Antonio and Houston all lean blue. Charlie's music has a retro appeal and is not so-called "new country" that is the big favorite
among right-wing country fans. Texas will eventually go blue (again), and the political landscape will be forever altered. And we're not going to ever forgive the crazed MAGA base that have soiled our state.

(23,627 posts)Remember we sent Speaker Jim Wright to the House for 30 years.
Hillary, Biden Obama, Beto (both times) all carried Fort Worth and Arlington.
As demonstrated by the recent SD9 special election, the blue is spreading to North Tarrant (and it is about time)

(3,648 posts)I grew up here in the 1970s, when it was still considered a decent place to raise a family, back before repukes took over and took us to the bottom 5 of states. We moved back here due to family issues.
I stopped listening to country a long time ago (Charlie Pride/Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton) era. My lived experience in recent years is that those i interact with who listen country are trumpers.
I sincerely hope that texas will go blue- we need another Ann Richards desperately.

(8,655 posts)I did not realize that type of country music still existed. It reminds me of the old-time country at the Opry (That may be where he is playing) with a guy playing on an acoustic singing lyrics you could understand.

That's not evolution to a post democratic society but a regression to feudalism. Been there done that. Led to stagnant, corrupt economies and constant abuse of the less powerful.
