she talked about speaking w him in the presence of a bunch of small kids. they were climbing all over him, and he was utterly unfazed.
she thought this was a mark of character that we shd all want in a politician. ever since, this has been a yardstick for me. not my only measure, but 1 that is a must have.
its y i love that obama was the baby whisperer. and its y i was all in for jb as my gov. his very 1st ad was partly about his efforts to improve early childhood education.
if we dont put children 1st, were so fucked.

(73,498 posts)i can forgive no dogs, cuz if u spend a lot of time on the road, its hard to do right by them.

(26,546 posts)I never wanted the responsibility, or money spent on owning a pet. I do enjoy watching vids of other people's pets!
I've enjoyed other people's pets at their homes. Enjoyed watching dogs being walked. We had a beautiful teen husky, and a beautiful "Sami'" in an old neighborhood of mine.
Good interactions with some dogs on the street ("can I pet him?'). Same nabe standing at the door of our laundry when a little curly white dog ran over to me after we looked at each other for belly rubs! 😄🥰 Adorable! Of course, I obliged!

(13,987 posts)A huge indicator of character. To be comfortable among the innocent, you must possess the qualities of honesty, playfulness and wonder. Corrupt people have the opposite qualities: sham, drudgery and fear. This is why the Noam puppy-killing story, and Trump's awkwardness around children, is all we needed to know about their character.

(5,167 posts)It's one of those "tells" which speaks volumes about someone's character. Not so much that she felt it was positive herself, but that she assumed everyone else would find her attitude tough in an admirable way.

(12,070 posts)And that's why she put it in her book. The only other people who would think what she did was a good thing would be people who are as emotionally detached from the feelings of other beings as she is.

(166 posts)people who cant do anything for them. Rump cant be bothered with anyone who cant give him money or status, or who wont shamelessly flatter and fawn. Children have this nasty habit of blurting the truth, something his pathetically fragile ego cannot tolerate.

(1,968 posts)a character assassination on him like they did on Kerrey in 2004........Make a totally un-truthful, horrific movie about him, and call it "Swift Boating 2.0"
in 1980 HWBush corruptly did Reagan, and we said nothing
in 2000 Cheney/Rummy corruptly did WBush, and we said nothing
in 2004 Cheney/Rummy corruptly did WBush, yet again, and we said nothing
in 2016 RepubliCONs corruptly did Trump, and we said nothing,
in 2025, the RepubliCONs 2025 group corruptly did Trump, and there was little we could do.......
And here we are.....................
