Especially the second and third listed. He has demonstrated the personal advantages that never admitting you are mistaken or sorry provide. It is hard to continue, let alone win, an argument with someone who will not admit fault in reasoning or in action. It’s exhausting. It’s the one of the real secrets of “the art of the deal”. Double down, name call, blame others, argue by tangent, anything but admit you’re wrong as that might lead to you having to abandon the comfort of your already established worldview. Many of us have already decided what the truth is before entering the marketplace of ideas, when one party will not “bargain”, the other is at a distinct disadvantage unless they refuse to also. It the. Becomes a battle of will rather than ideas.
