So what exactly Is fascism and how is America at risk?

Fascism is a political behavior defined by an obsessive focus on community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood, alongside cults of unity and purity.
This behavior is brought about by an authoritarian-minded group of committed nationalist militants. These warriors collaborate with traditional elites. Their ultimate aim is the abandonment of democratic liberties.
Further, their collaboration enables the pursuit of internal cleansing and external expansion through violence, unrestrained by ethical or legal limits.

Okay. And what can I watch for as an example of fascism under Trump?

• Powerful and continuing expressions of nationalism
• Disdain for the importance of human rights
• Identification of enemies as a unifying cause
• Goals of military supremacy
• Rampant sexism
• Controlled mass media
• Religion and government intertwined
• Corporate power protected
• Labor power suppressed
• Disdain for intellectuals and the arts
• Obsession with crime and punishment
• Rampant cronyism and corruption
• Fraudulent elections

In 1947, the U.S. Army released this short video, "Don't Be a Sucker.” The film shows how easily a nation can become divided. It reminded Americans that prejudice isn't natural, it's created by weak leaders who just want power. Under a fascist regime, prejudice was used as a practical weapon, to cripple a nation.

Context: It features a scene where a Hungarian immigrant explains to an American how Nazi propaganda created "suckers" in Germany, encouraging unity rather than division. The film depicts the rise of Nazism in Germany and how political propaganda is similarly used in the U.S. to recruit Nazi sympathizers from the ranks of American racists.

The person charged with supplying historical context in this film is a foreign refugee who recalls Germany's descent into totalitarianism under the Nazis. An onlooker, noting Mike's initial agreement and his later dismay at being implicitly attacked, draws him aside and discusses the rabble-rouser with him. The newcomer introduces himself as a refugee professor who saw the same things happen in Berlin. He warns Mike that such talk is always motivated by the speaker's desire for personal gain and that people like Mike never profit from discrimination.

The refugee professor proceeds to draw the parallel between the present scene and Germany under Nazism.

He describes a Nazi street speaker very much like the soap-box orator to whom Mike has been listening. In a flashback scene the Nazi speaker is seen haranguing a crowd. One by one the Nazi succeeds in isolating each minority group so that all are vulnerable. But, the narrator points out, the one who was really being swindled was Hans, a pure German according to Nazi standards. To him the Nazis promised everything and he believed them. In destroying the liberty of others he lost his own freedom and life.

{ Film Quote: “If we allow any minority to lose its freedom by persecution or by prejudice, we are threatening our own freedom.”}

Anyone else feeling the squeeze of being an occupied nation? Trump has an army of incredibly ill-informed, white racist MAGA patriots supporting him. They are unaware that they too will suffer under fascist authoritarianism.

The torch of liberty has been passed to us. If the ember extinguishes, it's our fault.

Democracy IS and must always be about conversation.
