Science will continue (if they are allowed to) progress in solar technology efficiency. Also, batteries for power storage have become remarkably sustainable. For example, there are ideas being developed using chlorophyll as a battery component. This tech is still at its infancy.

By the way, I have been totally on solar for fifteen years. My total investment to date is about $6k or about $400 a year. I imagine most would like a $35/month power bill.
