(39,216 posts)These are lily-white rural states with nary a major city among them.
Boise is about 238K and all Idaho's Jackmormons/non-Mormons/Liberals huddle together there for mutual protection.
Charleston WV is under 50K.

(11,670 posts)My home area (with the exception of Dare County) has been reliably Democratic for a very long time and it is mostly due to the fact that it is around 73% African American.
There are other areas of the lower Atlantic Seaboard where this happens as well. There is no way that the orange gibbon could get the numbers to rate a 'positive' there.

(42,675 posts)Most commonly, NAs who live on reservations don't have (frequently can't get) "normal" addresses, so they can't register to vote without jumping through a lot of hoops that others don't have to deal with. Birth certificates are also a big issue (surprise! usual GOP tactics).

(20,910 posts)the Extreme Court is allowing states to gerrymander them out of existence, so their impact on elections is minimal.

The swing is quite large. I guess the lesson is that turning out people who didn't vote in 2024 is critical.

Am I off base to see the differential as a product of successful vote suppression??

(1,344 posts)North Dakota population 800,000 ........population supporting one senator 400,000
South Dakota population 943,000.........population supporting one senator 471,500
Wyoming population 590,784........population supporting one senator 295,392
California population 39,350.000........population supporting one senator 19,575,000
More powerful legislative branch of congress in my opinion is the Senate as it has a say in all passage of bills plus confirmation of appointees and judges.
