Oh the parity of a corrupt president then and the biggest corrupt president ever today?
Nixon was never convicted, he should have been!
Trump is a convicted felon should be in prison!
JD was blabbing about the Nixon in an interview. I did not read the article because I knew he is an idiot who thinks he is presidential!
Story from Yahoo News.

(19,895 posts)ignore Nixon's crimes, Musk's Twitter would ban all comments about it, and Trump's DOJ and FBI would never prosecute. So, yeah, JD...Watergate would probably be a 12-hour story today.

(24,506 posts)1984. Watergate was bad. Everything the Felon is doing is very bad. The difference is there were many people back then who found the guts to expose the crime and follow through. You had to follow it in real time JD.

(116,068 posts)The media has so normalized the crimes of Donald Trump that the crimes of Nixon would seem trivial to today's standards.

(2,128 posts)JD is not wrong -- Trump at least until this point has survived politically several Watergate level Scandals -- largely thanks to the cover provided by right wing media and fox.
While in other Countries government leaders have been toppled by similar Scandals..

(1,220 posts)The break-in happened in mid 1973. It was a story, not huge but real. Congress started investigating. The national news would report on the Congressional goings-on and not too many people paid much attention. Then one day during an interview (in '74, I think) someone in Congress asked a witness what he did at the White House, and the guy said that he changed the tapes.
That's when everything changed. Congress demanded the tapes, the White House refused, ultimately the Supreme Court sided with Congress and ordered the White House to produce the tapes, and the brouhaha involved in this made a kind-of-boring scandal into a really, really big deal.
Today the corporate media wouldn't cover it the same way, and the current Congress wouldn't conduct a real investigation. So Vance is actually right about this; it probably wouldn't attract much attention. The current administration is brazenly corrupt, pretty clearly the most corrupt in history, and the only people who care are partisan Democrats. The Nixon administration was desperately trying to hide that it was using the tools of government, including the FBI and CIA, for political ends; the Trump administration isn't trying to hide it.
