A New Era

Last edited Sat Jun 27, 2026, 04:26 PM - Edit history (1)

First I'm not back from my self-imposed break but the recent events in primaries, especially NYC, compel me to say something for the record.

After progressives basically swept the primaries, especially in NYC, specifically self identified DSA, it appears some in the DNC leadership had a crash out that was both disturbing and unsettling.

First and foremost it goes to the linchpin of my central argument here that some in the Democratic Party look at progressives as being even worse than MAGA. That we are the real problem, not Republicans or white nationalists.

The reaction by certain Party leaders and Democratic consultants is reckless and unhinged to put in mildly. I mean implying that progressives should apologize for winning is bonkers.

Here is why...the progressive candidates ran in a free and fair election and won because, and here is the key point, THE VOTERS VOTED FOR THEM.

The sense of entitlement from certain people in our Party was shocking if I'm being honest.

Here is my point: what are they doing to change things? Not saying. Doing. Mamdani is doing EXACTLY what he said he would do. He didn't just say "one day maybe..." He actually did the shit he said he would do. He didn't see a huge budget deficit or housing crisis or food insecurity or bad roads, as impossible but as critical problems to be solved and he solved them.
Many of us are tired of being told that universal healthcare, solutions like Medicare for All, are just "impossible" or "too hard" while literally every other country does it.
We get told phrases like "baby steps" or "we're working on it" while Republicans chip away at the ACA and literally millions of Americans go without healthcare or are refused healthcare.
Tired of science and education being demonized and research being cut, over and over again, while all we get is excuses.
Tired of women being treated like second class citizens and being left to die in waiting rooms to get medical care while a dying or dead fetus poisons them to death.
Tired of pedophiles ruining our country and running our economy into the ground. And staying out of jail because they are politically well connected.
Tired of poor people being the bad guy in everything. Being called worthless or broken.
Tired of LGBTQIA+ being demonized and having their rights stripped from them.
Tired of immigrants being demonized and criminalized for just existing.
Tired of giving billions of dollars to countries that give their own citizens free healthcare and university and use weapons we give them to commit genocide.
Tired of electing the same people for decade after decade but we are still fighting the same fights, over and over again, all while being told "we will eventually get there" or "it just takes time" for us to do things others are already doing.

People are tired of the bullshit. Tired of the excuses. Tired of compromise. As I've said here for many years, compromise is great as long as you are not the one being compromised.

People want new, fresh faces. A new vision. A new approach. Fewer excuses and more results.

These primaries are a step in the right direction. A new era of politics in that isn't mired in the "this is the way we've always done it". A vision that has destabilized our economy and left many of us feeling like we are always on the losing end of Every. Single. Fucking Thing.

Here is hoping for a clean sweep of new politicians and a better standard of living for all of us, not just the select few.

I'm surprised the usual suspects have not yet come out to defend the middle of the road, "they are doing everything they can," status quo. Saturday night, perhaps people are out distracting themselves from their own superiority complexes.
