John Thune, John Barrasso, and Scott Jenning all state they had a 20 minute phone call with Mitch McConnell in the hospital.
Really: you all stated the phone call was exactly "20 minutes?"
BTW: I'm sure Chuck Schumer has Mitch McConnell's phone number. Has he even tried to call him to see WTF is going on?

(293 posts)... though I am not sure if anyone has had 20-any minute calls with her recently. Maybe McTurtle is more loquacious in the afterlife in purgatory or wherever..

(2,444 posts)... and they spoke TO him... not WITH him. It's common (I've heard) for people to talk to the dying even though they are comatose or the brain-dead.
I recall that I used to have "conversations" with each of my parents during their last days in hospice. It was therapeutic for me... I chose to believe they could hear me, but it seems unlikely considering their comatose state and the amount of morphine they had been given to ease the pain of transitioning.

(4,274 posts)They say hearing is the last sense people have at the end of life. Both my wifes parents proved that in my mind.
My mother in law was in home hospice basically only taking morphine for weeks with little else. On their wedding anniversary, my father in law kissed her forehead and wished her Happy Anniversary and said she could go. She did within hours.
My father in law had a massive heart attack that left him in a coma. This happened while we were on vacation. It took us a day or so for us to get in the hospital. We told him we were there and he could go see mother (a term he used for his wife). Shortly after my wife and brother in law were discussing taking him off the machines. That became unnecessary; he passed quietly within an hour of us getting to the hospital.

(2,444 posts)I just talked about old times with Dad. With Mom, however, I did tell her that "she was safe, it's okay to let go.... and we'd miss her... but that we'll be okay" --- The hospice nurse said that sometimes they want privacy... so we went back to the hotel for dinner, and right at bedtime, we got the call that she'd passed. Sigh.
Sorry for hijacking this thread.

(5,053 posts)or they spoke to someone with power of attorney so they can make the bullshit claim that they were, legally, speaking with Mitch McConnell.
Sen. Mitch McConnell is almost certainly currently fermenting.

(115,436 posts)Hospitalized patients in (or even out of ICU after such a--reportedly-- traumatic few weeks) might take a few phone calls, but I've never seen them be more than brief. The "business-addicted" might be a bit more determined but their energy and motivation doesn't persist. Recovery is exhausting. Hospitals are hardly conducive to sleep, so yeah, even with the VIP treatment, I'm not sure I'm buying these stories.

Mitch McConnell is probably not leaving that hospital. He's old, he had a heart attack or stroke, he was found unresponsive, and his condition is unlikely to improve.
