TIRANA, July 11 (Reuters) - A Miami-based businessman wanted in Albania for allegedly laundering drug money is suspected of faking the deeds to land where Jared Kushner wants to build a multi-billion-dollar resort, the country's organised crime-fighting agency said in case files reviewed by Reuters.
The businessman, Artur Shehu, denies all accusations against him, said his lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, who confirmed that Albanian prosecutors had issued a warrant seeking Shehu's arrest for laundering money for drug gangs.

In April, Shehu sold the strip of pristine Albanian coastline for the planned resort to Albania Land Development, a company which is owned by the Kushner-backed project's developers Sazan Real Estate Development and other investors.
"Reasonable suspicions are formed, based on evidence, that the above‑mentioned assets were acquired through the use of forged documents," prosecutors wrote in the case files.

Do your homework, Jared...

Geez, they make me think of the character Veruca Salt in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". So spoiled rotten, they think everything they want is theirs.

(55,890 posts)Jared and Ivanka can't accept a deed, regardless of payment, if the property legally belongs to someone who wasn't the entity who sold it to them.
This is akin to fraudsters who go into title offices, get a copy of someone's deed for a property that's not actively lived in. They make a new deed with their name on it and either lease it or sell it. The true owner comes to the property to find strangers living in his/her/their house and the locks changed. When it goes to court, the "new" owners are usually evicted.

It's hilarious when they do, too. I'm hopeful.

A number of Mamet movies are along those lines for example. The Grifters, Matchstick Men, Confidence, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels are a few others that come to mind.
It's going to be freaking HILARIOUS if the Kushner's got conned on this deal

(1,012 posts)businessman end up with deeds to a state owned island in the first place? This is pure criminal fraud and the Kuschner's were in on it from the beginning. They just didn't imagine that the Albanian people don't give a f*ck who daddy is. Maybe this is a good lesson for Americans.

(107,062 posts)Shehu is wanted in Albania for laundering drug money, but "Albania's government has strongly backed the plans ... Prime Minister Edi Rama told Reuters last month that it was a "beautiful" project and would go ahead regardless.
"Asked about the allegations in the case files against Shehu, a government spokesperson said the government would not intervene in private transactions, but that the project was proceeding in compliance with Albanian and EU laws."
So they're happy for a wanted man to be profiting, because he's selling to the Trump family. The current Albanian government is as corrupt as that family. So obviously not fit to run a country.
