If Iran did assassinate Trump, is he worth fighting for or should the world just look away and find another way toward peace?

(10,073 posts)nuke Tehran.
There are some looking to gin up war with Turkey too. That would be a NATO mess.
Be shitty to have the upside of no more Trump being a cause that ignites WWIII.

(70,259 posts)Even if "the world" wanted to avenge somebody's assassination, what could "we" do against Iran that we're not already doing?
Iran is a large nation with modern weapons and we haven't been able to do squat about their closing the Strait of Hormuz, cutting off oil supplies.
Carter wasn't able to do squat when Iran took a bunch of CIA agents, er, diplomats, hostage in 1979 and Iran has grown far more powerful since then.
Also, Iran has powerful allies (see 1979 hostage crisis that was miraculously resolved the day Reagan was inaugurated).
Many Americans persist in viewing Iran as a small desert nation inhabited by stone age people and they are so very wrong. (Not saying you view Iran that way.)

(1,375 posts)They were bright, insightful and willing to share what they learned. After that experience working with them, not for one nanosecond would I ever discount their intelligence and resourcefulness. They can design weapons as well as we can. But I feel most right wingers dismiss Iranian intelligence, and that is a big mistake!
