NEW YORK (WABC) -- As the nurses' strike enters a fifth week, Mount Sinai says they are in the midst of reviewing a new proposal from the mediator.

"Both parties continued to make progress with the mediator to resolve the outstanding issues at the bargaining table. We have received a mediators proposal and are reviewing it," Mount Sinai administration said.

Nurses at Montefiore nurses won improved staffing ratios in several areas of the hospital, added a safe staffing standard for the first time in an outpatient unit, and also won new nurse positions intended to improve patient safety and wait times.
