Exclusive: Kamala Harris to appear at Democratic events through the South in April

Source: CNN Politics

PUBLISHED Mar 26, 2026, 7:01 AM ET

As speculation continues about what Kamala Harris will do next, she has at least the first part of an answer: a swing through four Southern state Democratic Party events in April.

And conversations about similar stops through the summer and fall are already underway, a person familiar with her plans told CNN.

But first, she’ll appear at fundraisers for the North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia state parties the week of April 13, then follow that with a keynote address at the Arkansas Democrats’ annual Fisher Shackelford Dinner in Little Rock on April 25. That’s in addition to her appearance last Friday at the National Women’s Law Center annual gala in Washington and another scheduled speech at the end of April.

Invitations to many of these events will start going out in the coming days and come as even other prospective 2028 Democratic candidates are beginning to ask around for intel on her plans. Though she has not made any decision on a repeat run, her geographic choices for this swing are reminiscent of what her 2020 campaign team used to call its “SEC strategy,” hoping to win lots of delegates among the heavily Black primary electorates to counter what they expected would be weaker showings in other early voting states.

Her debate against Trump showed what she is capable of. For me, she is the front runner.

Now I feel a bit more hopeful. I think what she is planning to do is wonderful. She has my heart and my best wishes!

She has to reach a constituency early on before the big money votes. She is a Gen Xer the age cohort that went for Trump most strongly in '24... which includes Liz Cheney ,Ted Cruz & Marco Rubio along with those she chose among for her VP Walz, Pritzker, Shapiro... she must SHOW she can speak to this constituency and not just be comfortable in the seat of power & money. Right behind her are articulate Bernie flavored millennials like Buttigieg & Ocasio-Cortez. She MUST master the language. I'm glad to see her give it another go but she MUST win over the skeptics.

like Cruz/Rubio/Shapiro.

A lot has changed between this time in 2024 and now. People are reckoning with the WHY of what was done during her campaign to WARN voters, while 45's billionaires spent billions to deceive people.

And now we are seeing what was presaged, not only coming to pass (Project 2025), but how it has literally devastated this country to its foundational core.

I would not make snap assumptions about what might happen in the future based on her campaign 2 years ago, and strategies going forward.

she failed to beat that POS cretin and I just don't see things changing enough for her. She doesn't have the 'it' factor. I know that will enrage some of you but it's true. People don't like her for whatever dumbass reason....her laugh, her hair, her figure...whatever misogynistic BS they can conjure up. Time for a fresh face with new ideas folks, seriously. No not Newsome either. Me? I'd lean toward Kelly or Pritzker or even Beshear. My rankings:

1) Pritzker...he's a fighter with charisma
2) Kelly...solid as a rock
3) Beshear...centrist who could bring sanity back to the office
4)Newsome?.....Meh....too slick IMO
