'Republican voters believe things that aren't true. That's a problem for the GOP.'

(MS NOW) "Solar power is the cheapest form of electricity to set up in most parts of the world. Tariffs are paid by U.S. importers, who pass along the costs to consumers. And noncitizen voting is extraordinarily rare."

"These three statements are facts. You can verify them by looking at scientific research, listening to experts or just reading reliable news outlets."

"Recent polls, however, show that substantial numbers of Republican voters simply don’t believe these statements. That’s bad for the country, because it’s harder for us to solve problems and decide how to move ahead when we can’t agree on the facts. It’s also bad for Republican politicians — and they have only themselves to blame."

"Led by President Donald Trump, many members of the GOP in recent years have made their case by attacking the underlying facts, making baseless claims and undermining the credibility of independent experts who could contradict them. The result is a party that is increasingly out of touch with voters outside its ideological bubble and unable to come up with good arguments or practical solutions."

"Just look at the numbers:"

1. News should be facts not opinion. That would help.

We're in a goddamn mess. And a lot of our so called 'leaders' are responsible. It's so damn frustrating.

Getting them to believe lies of the party over the truth of the world is a foundational piece of dictatorships and dystopian societies.

It is only bad if the oligarch owned media doesn't keep them brainwashed and in line.

they also believe that their form of Christianity is favored by JC/God and because of that favoritism it bestows their supremacy over all.

Like WWII, Hitler believed the same thing therefore millions had to die. Countries had to bow down to the superior being.

Again history repeats itself, ya think mankind would have learned but that is considered "Woke", and the superior complex is "D.E.I.".

when he left the White House for the last time rather than be impeached. That same baseline of support. Like Trump, Tricky Dick was a control freak who thought he was above the law. CRP (Committee for the Reelection of the President) of Watergate break in fame, better known as CREEP, was the forerunner of Trump's election shenanigans. It included some real jackasses who would feel right at home in Trump's orbit. G. Gordon Liddy, Howard Hunt, Roger Stone......oh wait, Stone is in Trump's orbit too. Interesting linkage. If Elon were an adult back then, I'm sure he would have fit right in.

For some in that baseline, they have this strange, inner desire for someone to lead them and validate their sometimes bizarre views on things. For others, they view Trump as simply a fellow traveler. One of their own in the White House. A psychopath.

11. My neighbor across the cul-de-sac circle is a big Trumpster

He even has had the big blue Trump flag waving from his house. But he has a big house heated by electric baseboard (we had ours built with duct work, a more expensive option that has paid off over time) and that has caused high power bills during upstate NY winters. A few years ago, he had solar panels installed to keep from going broke. He's still a Trumpster but he believes in solar energy. So even when reality sets in and forces them to accept the facts on one issue, they still swallow the horseshit on the others.

the @$$h0les who give them their racist policies. Even when Republicans are cutting SNAP and Medicaid in rural areas where clinics and nursing homes are closing due to DOGE cuts. All to free up the money for wasting more than half of our militaries arsenal on an illegal war against Iran instead of helping Ukraine defend itself (while also holding the line for all of Europe) against America's greatest adversary Russia. America First where the world's richest ketamine addict from South Africa dictates fiscal policy after donating millions of dollars to a diaper wearing racist treasonous pedophile rapist.
