ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. —

Former pastor and local well-known businessman Alan Chambers was granted bond on three third-degree felony charges alleging he tried to lure a 14-year-old boy for sex by sending him explicit and suggestive messages through Snapchat and Telegram.

His first appearance in front of a judge on Tuesday lasted just five minutes, but the criminal case against him will affect the rest of his life.

The operator of two men’s clothing stores in Winter Park was arrested Monday and charged with solicitation of a minor via computer, distributing obscene material harmful to children, and unlawful use of communications devices.

The arrest affidavit alleges Chambers messaged the “teen” — who was an undercover deputy — to “engage him in sexual activities,” and said he “wanted to make love.” ..........................

…because, although Chambers was a leading proponent of “conversion therapy,” he later renounced his position, declared such therapy didn’t work, and affirmed that he was openly gay.

So this isn’t another case of a fundamentalist pedo…this is the case of a former fundamentalist who renounced his beliefs and came out as a self-accepting gay man, and who turned out to be a pedophile. Not a good look for our side.

There comes a point where responsible adults have to accept that they’ve passed their early 20’s and should stop fetishizing minors.
