Damn, the weather is getting bad here in upstate NY.

Had a doctor's appointment 15 miles away this morning. It was only supposed to snow a couple of inches.

My wife was nice enough to shovel the driveway and clean off my car while I was in the shower. She begged me to cancel the appointment, but I told her I had to go because it was a specialist with a 6 month waiting time to get an appointment.

It was a really greasy drive there that tested my skills. Started to spin out more than a few times, and was able to pull out of them ok.

I was on the highway doing 55, and some asshole in an F150 blew by me in the left lane, and I swear he must have been doing 90 MPH. I thought "that idiot is not going to make it". Sure enough, a few miles down the road, he put his truck in a ditch in the median. I saw him get out of the truck. He looked OK, so I didn't stop.

They finally issued a winter storm warning on the TV while I was in the waiting room.

Made it home OK...saw 3 cars in the ditch on the way home.

Be careful out there.

The car actually did fine.

Most of the cars I saw were having a hard time. Fishtailing, 180 degree spins, etc. Also, it seems like too many people don't know how to regain control out of a fishtail. It's a wet snow, and the plows had not caught up with it yet. I have front wheel drive on my little car, wife has all wheel drive on her Subaru.

I should have taken the Subaru, but it worked out good.

We usually manage to avoid driving when it is like this, so it's not a huge issue for us. I normally don't have to drive anywhere over a couple of miles when it snows...local roads. Grocery store and gas station are exactly one mile away. Same with the shopping mall...one mile. But today was unusual in that I had to get on the highway.

The plow drivers are pretty good around here, but I think this one caught everyone by surprise. Once it stops snowing, they will have the roads cleared pretty quickly.

We were supposed to get NMT 2 inches of snow. So far we have at least 4 inches, and it's still snowing. The main roads have been plowed and salted, so they look passable. We won't be going out until later in the day; if at all.
We're planning to travel upstate to see relatives in the Glens Falls, NY area tomorrow. Everything should be OK by then.

I was born and raised in the Glens Falls area, and have a lot of experience driving on snow covered roads. They are very unforgiving, especially toward idiots in big 4 wheelers who think they can just blast through at dry road speeds.
