Friday Night Vodka Buzz. Ask me anything.

Two shots to get the party started. Now, a Reflecting Pool. I was going to have a Melon Ball; vodka, Midori, and orange juice poured over ice in a chilled wine glass. But I discovered that if I float some blue curaçao on the top, it looks a lot like the Reflecting Pool cocktails people have been sharing online.

One unexpected bonus: the blue curaçao sank to the bottom of the glass, so it perfectly represents the “American Flag Blue” of Trump’s spectacularly incompetent vision for the National Mall’s Reflecting Pool.

Relaxing after a busy, but very good day in clinic.

I love you all…

Funny, when you consider the cocktail is associated with conservative politics.

I don’t have any Chartreuse. Maybe I should get a bottle.

Yes, I bought plenty of wine, which is a treat. I’ll refill my cellar and enjoy it over the next year. It’s cool and rainy in Walla Walla which is lovely. It’s usually so hot.

It’s not often you get the same kind of weather on both sides of the mountains.

You’ll have to tell me what label you like the best, and I’ll try to pick up a bottle of it. 🍷

I've got a batch of rum based vanilla extract, at least a pint. Can I use it as a drink base? I've been making my own vanilla for baking for years, but looking for other ways to enjoy it.

Thanks for advice

I would use vanilla as a flavoring agent, rather than a base. Vanilla is one of those flavors that is sublime in just the right amount; a little too much, and it becomes overpowering.

Let me know the outcome of your experiment.

I would have loved to try that recipe, but I don't have any pineapple juice right now, and I wouldn't know where to get fruit rollups. So I improvised. It worked out pretty well.
