Lonnie G. Bunch III
Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution
With America preparing to turn 250, organizers had been hoping that the celebrations would bring the country together. The reality is proving to be somewhat different. Many are upset that President Trump appears to be making the nation's anniversary about himself. It comes amid the Trump administration's continuing attacks on America's diverse cultural heritage, and it's repeated attempts to dictate how the country should view itself. Lonnie G. Bunch III serves as Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution, a role that often has put him at loggerheads with President Trump. Bunch joins Christiane to reflect on America's full and complex history ahead of its anniversary.
