SPOTLIGHT RACE: Brian Fernandez for AZ-LD23

I come from six generations of Arizonans whose story began when the border crossed them during the Gadsden Purchase—not the other way around. That legacy—rooted in the soil of southern Arizona—shaped who I am and why I serve.

I was raised in Yuma, where I saw how hard working families had to fight just to make ends meet. I watched neighbors struggle with rising costs, families squeezed by a lack of affordable housing, and students held back by underfunded schools and limited options after graduation. Those weren’t headlines or talking points—they were real lives, lived all around me.

That’s what pushed me to take action.

As your State Senator, I’ve worked to change the systems that hold people back. I’ve fought to bring more funding to our public schools, expand job training across rural Arizona, and deliver solutions that actually reach our communities—not just sit on paper.

I’m running for re-election because this work isn’t done. Because I believe that every family in our district deserves the chance to succeed—and because I know that when rural Arizona rises, we all do.
