Fayetteville mayor talks about proposed bonds ahead of election

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — On Tuesday, Feb. 10, Mayor Molly Rawn spoke to Fayetteville in her “State of City” address, where she highlighted the city’s work over the past year and how proposed bonds are hoping to help current and future residents.

During the mayoral address, Rawn spoke about eight bonds on the ballot in March, totaling $375.5 million to be paid by taxpayers through a 1-cent tax.

The bonds address water and sewage infrastructure, roads and pedestrian safety, and recycling and sustainability, among other topics.

“So, these are problem areas in the city that we have known about,” said Rawn. “Now is the right time to begin alleviating them because it’s only going to get more expensive. And we need to start now so that we’re prepared for the growth that is coming.”
