NYC Mayor Adams' indictment, despite dismissal, still grounds for denying him $4M in matching funds: records
Mayor Adams federal corruption indictment is dead, but New York Citys Campaign Finance Board isnt forgetting about it.
Despite this months dismissal of his indictment, the board still has reason to believe Adams broke federal and local laws in connection with the case and is thereby continuing to deny his reelection campaign $4 million in public matching funds, according to communications obtained by the Daily News.
In the mid-April communications, the board also for the first time told Adams it believes his 2021 and 2025 campaigns violated various laws in connection with fundraising events that have drawn straw donor concerns, but werent referenced in his indictment. The events include 2021 fundraisers co-hosted at Queens New World Mall by Winnie Greco, an Adams adviser who resigned from City Hall last year after the feds raided her homes as part of a corruption probe scrutinizing Chinese government ties.
Adams indictment alleged he solicited bribes and illegal contributions to both his 2021 and 2025 campaigns, mostly from Turkish government operatives. In exchange, Adams who has denied wrongdoing secured his benefactors political favors, like building permits, the indictment says.
