SPOTLIGHT RACE: Woodson Bradley for NC-SD42

Woodson is a mom, wife, business owner, community leader, and tireless volunteer. She is the daughter of a career public school teacher and social worker who went on to work in the Juvenile Court System. Community Service is how she grew up, who she is now, and what her new family is known for. Her entire life has been dedicated to public service, volunteerism, advocacy, and being a community leader.

Woodson graduated from Hollins University in 1995 with a degree in Economics and Business Administration. She also studied Environmental Economics abroad at the University of Sydney in Australia. After moving down to Charlotte, she became a real estate agent and small business owner. She understands the importance of business growth and public service and more importantly, why they should go hand-in-hand.

Woodson has dedicated her life to public and community service. As the current senator for NC Senate District 42, she brings that dedication to Raleigh every single day.

She is a domestic violence survivor and advocate for families, children, and teens across NC. She's on the planning board as a survivor voice for the Mecklenburg County Family Justice Center, known as the Umbrella Center. In Raleigh, Woodson brings a survivor's voice into the North Carolina State Senate, ensuring legislation works for survivors and those in need.

Woodson is a vibrant and active member of the Rotary Club of Charlotte. She serves on various Rotary Committees and is an ambassador for volunteer opportunities across Charlotte. She regularly volunteers loading teachers' cars with supplies at Classroom Central. Woodson and her family serve Christmas Breakfast at the Charlotte Rescue Mission every holiday season.

Woodson is the NC Special Olympics Fall Games Venue Manager and has worked with NC Special Olympics for almost 10 years. “Watching the athletes come to Charlotte from across the state is so rewarding. Seeing the Gold Medalists go on to compete in the National Games fills my heart with pride. Our entire family volunteers at the NC State Games. These are some of our best shared memories.”

As a CMS parent, she is extremely active within the schools. She is a certified volunteer, substitute teacher, classroom instructor across all CMS high schools and middle schools for Love Speaks Out (the teen dating violence prevention curriculum), and is the Parent Booster President for the Marine Corps JROTC Program in Mecklenburg County.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic she and her family helped sponsor the largest Big Pop-Ups across the state for Community Action agencies and Head Start Programs. She is a vocal advocate for early education and Community Action programs. She and her family loaded over 1,500 cars at Charlotte, Edenton, and Statesville events. “Just an incredible experience to work and help families with no questions asked during a time in history where the community came together to help people in need.”
