I want to create a video tutorial showing screens as I move through the program. S/w ideas?

I have a couple of tutorials that I use to show seniors the steps to use in certain applications.
I would like to “film” (capture) them onto a DVD so they could be shown in our senior center library without me having to conduct the Help session.

1. Want to capture video of going through the screens
2. Would then like to add a voice-over.

I’m pretty good at business applications and even setting up networks. But have never done any video or audio “recording”.

Any software suggestions? Free or reasonable price, please.
I would really appreciate some guidance. A quick search left me overwhelmed with software options and I don’t know enough to evaluate them.

1. You can easily do that use OBS studio. Its free.

Its used for streaming but you can also use it to record. It can be setup to capture your desktop and your audio. You can assign a hotkey to turn recording on, minimize it and then open your other software, hit the hot key to start recording and do your tutorial, narrating as you go.

2. I really liked Camtasia

They used to have a free version - may still be out there. It's very intuitive and worked great. I used it to record incumbent workers performing their tasks so that I could create training. We chose it because it was easy for them to use.

Also, you can do it with Windows 10. Haven't tried it, but here is an article that explains it.
