Lies and Murder in Putin's Russia - How the Criminal Kleptocracy Began in the 1990s! - Silicon Curtain
Jamison R. Firestone is an American lawyer and businessman, born in Los Angeles in 1966, raised in New York, educated at Tulane University and Tulane Law School, and admitted to the New York Bar. He moved to Moscow in 1991, during the collapse of the Soviet Union, and co-founded Firestone Duncan, the first independent foreign law firm in Russia. He lived and worked in Russia for eighteen years, serving foreign investors and companies during the chaotic transition from late Soviet collapse to gangster capitalism, Yeltsin-era oligarchy, and Putins consolidation of state power. He was also a director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia for six years.
Firestone was the employer and colleague of Sergei Magnitsky, the Russian tax adviser who uncovered a massive tax-refund fraud involving corrupt officials and criminal networks, was arrested after exposing it, and died in custody in 2009. Firestone later became one of the public campaigners for Magnitsky sanctions, working with Bill Browder and others. He now lives in London and works on efforts to seize Russian state assets for Ukraine.
