1. will point out that the Cardinal (and other officials) were informed well in advance

that the site would not be open - (and an 'appeal' to that decision made, and turned away)
Making anyone persisting in 'showing up' at the site - a gesture purely one of performance.

That said ... Far as I'm concerned you can take all of your poxy self important religious 'elite' (of whatever flavor or stripe) - and roll them down a (very steep) hill in a barrel. More or less what they all have coming.

We've seen other examples where religious tradition and belief trump public safety ...
