Update On Our 13 Year Old Outdoor Cat - CooCoo

He has a bad corneal ulcer that we have been treating for 5 weeks, 3 different eye drops 3 times a day. I had to lock him the garage to keep him handy and I put down a litter box. He was always in his heated cat house and all I had to do was touch his paws and he would come out.
I would take him in the house and hold him on the recliner while my wife did the hard part, putting the drops in his eye.

After 3 weeks it looked bad and then the vet changed to a different antibiotic that is working, he isn't going to lose his eye and he is down to 2 different drops twice a day.

The vet said he will have a scar but it will only affect him when he is reading or driving.

What a nice Christmas present.

My daughter has a 17 year old indoor/outdoor cat. She once thought it would be “fun” to let him out on the deck and once they get a taste of the outdoors, forget it. But he’s managed to hang in there all these years and never get hit by a car (they live on a pretty busy street). One of his eyes is cloudy from a cataract (I think). She puts a collar and tag on him so people know he’s really somebody’s cat. Merry Christmas to my grandcat Edward and all cats everywhere!

Our cat showed up one day in the lower yard and was howling. I told my wife that cat is CooCoo. He was fixed so we put his pic on Facebook and tried to find his owner but lucky for us he adopted us. Just taking him 12 miles to the vet upsets him being enclosed, he meows the entire way. We can't bring him in the house because we got a cat from a shelter, wife saw her picture on line. We picked up the cat who was in a box, when we let her out we discovered she had herpes in one eye so we can't have another cat interact with her. Her name is Gabby and she gets a drop in her eye every day to keep it healthy.

He has been a very good cat. He had a friend who showed up a couple years after CooCoo showed. We got him fixed but he had the disease that his immune system doesn't work and if he gets sick he probably dies. 11 years ago the vet asked us if we wanted to put him down in case he would give it to CooCoo from fighting. I told the vet they don't fight, they are friends, he made it 9 years, passed away last spring. CooCoo is bigger and he protected Tabby Cat from the neighbors' dogs.

Too bad about the driving, though. Probably for the best because cats are notorious for not using turn signals.
