Related: About this forumThis is what happens when you forget to put the cat food container away.

I keep dry cat food in a large tupperware container (lower left in the photo) and store it in a cupboard where it can't be gotten to. But this morning I forgot to put it away and left it on the counter, and as I was sitting in the living room I heard a sort of rattling thump. Entered the kitchen and found cat food scattered far and wide and my little 14-lb. darlings Dave (top) and Chet (purple collar) hoovering up as much as they could manage. I swept up as much as I could but there will be kibbles in all the corners and nooks and crannies and they will find them. They're still at it.
Don't forget to put the cat food away.

(115,436 posts)I am overrun with insect invasions (fruit flies, ants, gnats, drain flies) and am uber vigilant with this hot weather. Colorado has blessed respite throughout most of the year, but all of a sudden the damned things try to take over!
Good luck!

(Yes, cats snore)

(14,596 posts)I cant even keep it on the floor anymore because within seconds 1 million of them are just engulfed in the whole cat dish. I have to keep it up on her kitty play stand so she at least has a chance to eat some before they find it. Truly Nolan comes here year around but in July these particular ants just show up for about three weeks and nothing will get rid of them. But then again I live in the tropics so I guess thats a trade-off between that and ice and snow. Strangely, they have no interest in her dry food, nor people food. But then again, I dont keep anything out for longer than it takes to eat it.

(30,364 posts)I've used the same phrase to describe our male Siamese mix. He eats like a dog - so fast I wonder if he tastes it.
We have to feed the 4 cats in different places where we can shut doors or the "vacuum cat" who be done with his in no time and then go on to everyone else's dishes.
I'm occasionally tempted to create a scenario like the one in your picture to see if he has a satiation point, or would he eat until he puked. I suspect the latter.
