Related: About this forumI just received a cat sympathy card from my dear friend and her husband
I am so touched at their kindness. More tears.
It helps to know that others care. At the vet's office on Monday, everybody who came into that exam room, to a person, was kind, sympathetic, compassionate and caring. They let me talk even when I babbled on; they let me cry even when I blubbered; they didn't rush me, so they could use the room. They really seemed to care about both Holly and me.
I never expected this happening to Holly, let alone so quickly. She was my healthy cat. And now she's gone.

(3,920 posts)It's in the eyes...the tone of voice....it's instinctive and honest. That's where the grief sits too.
So live in memories. That's what I've done. Bless you.

Im now 75, and have had cats most of my life, so theres a lot of paw prints on my heart.
Our veterinary practice sends sympathy notes, and I start to cry before I even open the envelope.

(3,950 posts)Shortly after Isaac and Jeanie died about a month apart in 2006. (They were 17 years old) - "they're just cats; not like they're dogs or children or anything."
Not a close relative, but anyone who thinks of cats as disposable pets not worthy of love and respect - and who cannot see the love and respect cats give in return - is not worth my time.
I'm very sorry for your loss.
