Related: About this forumA beautiful new Feral has started showing up. It's VERY shy but I finally got a picture.
At first it would take off the instant I was spotted. Slowly but surely it is getting more comfortable. In the picture, this gorgeous creature is sitting right in front of the little shelter I put together for Carys and her siblings. What you don't see are 2 or 3 of the ferals curled up on the straw bed.
I took this through the living room window and had to zoom in with my not so spectacular camera on my phone. That excuse out of the way, I think it almost looks like a water color painting. I might print it out and frame it.

(4,543 posts)I'm glad it found you, Siwsan. It doesn't know how lucky it is. You are a life saver for so many. You are certainly a very special person. And a good pbotographer, too

(19,654 posts)saw a video somewhere. A man made the ultimate feral cat sanctuary.
He cut a 4-6 inches holes in the side or end of discarded ice chest. Just add a little straw.
The perfect kitty hut.

(25,246 posts)A Maine Coon or Norwegian Forest cat. I wonder if it was once a pet that was either abandoned or got loose and became lost.

(25,246 posts)Norwegian Forest cats, I discovered that they are part of the ancestry of Maine Coons, which is why the two breeds look so similar, I guess. Main Coons are larger, have larger, tufted ears, and a broader, more square shaped muzzle. The Norwegian Forest cat muzzle is narrower and more pointed. They both have a long-haired full tail, and a long-haired ruff.
The NF cat reaches its full maturity at 5 years old. Not as big as the MC, but still larger than the average cat. If this is a NF cat and if Carys is related to it, she might become quite a big girl.

(2,816 posts)of a beautiful cat!
It looks just like my late cat Jamie, who was smoke gray and had a big ruff - she would become so furry in the cold months that you could barely see her legs. She did need daily combing or she would mat like crazy, but had a soft white undercoat that contributed to this - this critter may not.
Jamie was part Persian, and her sibling from the same litter was a tuxedo.
