Related: About this forumI don't have the heart to tell my son's girlfriend that cosmo her lab pup is just a dumb ass.
I am knowledgeable on meth labs psycho furry lunatics Im experienced with met labs kind of like Marlin Perkins and his side kick jim from TV show from my youth Mutual of Omaha wild kingdom.
We had a Boog the chocolate lab from puppy to thirteen years and the Boog was just one shrewd dude.
Example 18 and his girlfriend went away to the beach until Wednesday her parents were like no take the pup Cosmo with you.
No way in leaving 14 week cosmo here with your mother and i is what 18 told me her parents said and the hotel doesnt allow animals so I said Im tracking you on your problem kiddo I got you covered.
Im on vacation this week so yea he can stay here I love him why you ask Im full of empathy for furry infants . It seems Cosmo has chewed at his home drywall a drying rack leg and part of a plastic clothes hamper her parents light weights.
I jokingly said and Cosmo just adores Dunc pup. So Im bed last night I toss chub pup up on bed his legs are not long enough to jump into bed yet and he cuddles up next to Dunc.
Around 01:30 I hear this crying whining I wake up yep Cosmo rolled off the bed its ok youre fine I put him back in bed. About 02:45 thunder hits freaks Dunc out he jumps into me for protection in bed not even foot away from Cosmo. And Cosmo starts crying again Im all alone i was cuddling my bestest friend Dunc.
So I drag cosmo up next to us cuddle him and hes like hey Im wide awake now lets play or chew on the old guy or my golden retriever bud. Hey Ill try and hump the bed pillows or oh my Ill try and pull on this sheet youre covered up with mister you in mood play tug of war at 03:00 vicious puppy growling.
So Im in shower this morning hop out and Cosmo is trying to chew on the toilet as he laid on the bathroom floor puppy sprawled out his front legs in front of him and hind legs behind him. I thought you know I used Clorox other day Friday to clean bathroom floor oh fuck it no chance for any brain damage from Cosmo ingesting chemicals. Boog the chocolate lab loved to lick the floors after we cleaned with murphy cleaner.

And I have to admit, Im kinda partial to dumbass dogs. Smart dogs have their points, but nothings funner than a dumbass dog.

(36,753 posts)Since my lab as a puppy ate a $20 bill. And she still will lick up the murphys oil soap at the age of 7.
Its a good thing they are cute.
Good luck with babysitting, Duncanpup!

(3,300 posts)Me? I'm just old. I'm keeping my daughter's 6 month old pup while they're visiting the PNW for FIVE weeks! My guest is part Aussie, part super dog, whatever mixture that is. Dumb, she ain't, but neither has she learned anything that would help her be a better house guest. The first week was hell on earth with her demanding my three much smaller dogs "play" with her while she pinned each of them successively against the wall, the ground, the door or any other structure she was able to herd them to. My 3 dogs started pissing in the house because she wouldn't let them alone long enough so they could pee outside! Finally, I figured out I had to put her on her leash and take her outside, making sure the dog door was close so she couldn't race back through it, like Dino always did when Fred put him outside. I let her stay outside till about midday when it's starting to get hot. Bring her in for a nice long, cool afternoon nap in her kennel, then leash her again to go outside and play in the sprinklers, the kiddie pool I bought her and to delude herself that she will catch the cat before it slaps her across the nose and sends her running and yelping across the yard again,. She likes to go to bed around 9:30 and she's tired enough to sleep through the night.
She does get to play with the other dogs outside, but only after they've been able to take care of their bodily functions. She no longer gets to play inside the house because she just goes hog wild and no one can catch her or keep the other dogs from getting pinned down. She's a sweet dog, but she doesn't know her strength and she needs to go to obedience school! I am too old for this!

(5,416 posts)We already had 2 dogs - a border collie and a Leonburgher. Porter, my Leonburgher, didn't mind the Husky at all, and the Husky wasn't interested in him. The Husky was all about my Border Collie! And Einstein THOUGHT he was ready for (finally) somebody to play with him at his own speed.
By the time the evening turned towards night, Einstein (my border collie) was hiding underneath my office desk... because the Husky couldn't "get in there" to goose him to play more. I'd never seen Einstein completely worn out before. But since he led the Husky to our backyard, I figure he got what he wanted! (LOL)
The next day we called Husky Rescue in KC. They were thrilled to death with this dog. I say good luck to them. She'd make a gorgeous pet, but I've never seen so much action in motion for such lengths of time! And boy, could that dog "talk"...!!!! I loved her, but knew it was not a match made in heaven at my house.
Einstein, on the other hand, never brought home another stray. He'd brought home two before the Husky, including my Porter dog. The Husky was the end of his "mi casa es su casa" thought stream, tho!
I currently have a dog who, like your son's girlfriend's dog, is just a pure dumbass. Throw a frisbee and she'll watch it sail over her head. Toss a ball and see it hit her on the nose. She was one year old when we adopted her from the kill-shelter. I don't think she ever learned how to "dog"... and, since she's lived here for 2 years now with 9 cats, I swear the only thing she knows how to do is "Cat"... I'm hoping some trips out to the dog park will allow her to pick up some good "dog responses" to normal events. Lexy is a lover, and you can't help but fall in love with her, but damn... the dog is dumb as a stump. I've just never experienced anything like her before! (LOL)
