Green Bay women's basketball captures Horizon League regular season title
GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - In an epic battle, the Green Bay womens basketball team secured the Horizon League regular season title and the top seed in next weeks conference tournament, avenging an early-season loss by taking down Purdue Fort Wayne, 68-63, in overtime.
Natalie McNeal led all scorers with 27 points, as the Phoenix honored their decorated 7-member senior class before and after the game.
Theres no better way to celebrate my friends honestly, McNeal said. Last couple games at the Kress Center, to have the crowd we did, this is such an amazing feeling. Obviously this is just a stepping stone to where we wanna be the rest of March. I feel like it was a great way to start March.
That was a Green Bay win, senior guard and Luxemburg-Casco grad Cassie Schiltz said. Were behind, we come back, take it to overtime, and we finish it off. That was an all around team win and it just felt amazing.
