It is a strange time to be part of this history. I've lived so long (since 1947) in a country that mainly followed some rules. I'm a white male so I didn't suffer under the injustices of others during these years. And I feel deeply for their pains and losses.

I have often wondered how history will record these bizarre times - now I wonder if we will have one. I'm old enough to remember the bicentennial - and we are just a year away from 250 years of this unique democracy. And I can't help wondering if we will still have one a year from now, we're seeing changes happen so quickly. I live in Revolutionary War country and have ancestors who fought, and I can't help noting the similarities.

French and Russian. Pretty bloody and a great overturning of the current order.

Not sure if that is a gloomy or hopeful statement.

And, as a student of history, I can't predict the method or the outcome. This time the unprecedented threat is coming from within our own country.

Judge and juries will toss such flimsy setups, won't they?

These cases don't need to go to a grand jury? wow.

I hope this in jest, but I'm not sure.
