Vance & Trump make insane announcement about ICE shooting - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen

BTC: The Trump administration remains a unified front in their response to the shooting in Minnesota. And that front being total assholes. This is just another day.

After yesterday's tragic shooting in Minneapolis by a federal ICE agent, everyone was bracing themselves for how cold and heartless the administration would be in their response. And while I hate to get all Quentin Tarantino here by showing you the ending before the beginning, I think this pretty well sums up how the day went.

(cut to video)
CNN Anchor: We are listening there to Vice President JD Vance, who vehemently blamed Renee Good for her own death.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yep. While that may have felt like a clip straight out of the Joker, it was in fact a real sound bite from a real newscast in our real reality.

But let's head back to the beginning. You see, as with most instances when a nation is mourning over a horrific incident, it's nice to start with a prayer for the attacker.

(cut to video)
JD Vance: I will say, look, I I would appreciate everybody saying a prayer for that that agent.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yeah, I don't know if you really want that because not everyone's prayers are aiming to net the same result. I mean JD said a prayer for the previous pope and I think we all know how that shook out. But sorry, you were saying?

(cut to video)
JD Vance: Look in the past 6 months he has been hit twice by a motor vehicle. One time, the first time it led to over 30 stitches and very serious injuries to his legs. This is a guy who's actually done a very very important job for the United States of America. He's been assaulted. He's been attacked. He's been injured because of it. He deserves a debt of gratitude.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Actually, I think he deserves some counseling. Like, I'm no expert on PTSD, but I could see a world where if you previously had that traumatic experience of being dragged by a vehicle, that you might be a little quick to discharge your weapon in a similar instance, and that is a fucking problem. Of all the ICE agents we don't need in our streets, this one tops the list.

I will happily save this guy some co-payments to his therapist and just recommend he subscribe to the Taylor Swift philosophy of psychoanalysis. I'm the problem. It's me.

The lack of sympathy and compassion for someone killed at gunpoint by a federal officer is honestly astonishing to me.

(cut to video)
JD Vance: Look, there there's a part of me that feels very very sad for this woman. Not just because she lost her life.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Oh, phew. For a second there, I thought you were just a heartless mouthpiece for a corrupt and sinister administration.

(cut to video)
JD Vance: But because I think she is a victim of leftwing ideology. What young mother shows up and decides they're going to throw their car in front of ICE officers who are enforcing legitimate law? You've got to be a little brainwashed to get to that point to where you're willing not just to protest. That's fine. Not peacefully protest, but throw your vehicle in front of legitimate law enforcement officers and drive your car into them. To get to that point, you have to be, I think, radicalized in a very, very sad way.

(cut to studio)
BTC: And who better to speak about the dangers of radicalization than a man who once called his boss Hitler, but then walked it back once he was radicalized into realizing that if he walked that statement back, he'd score a place on the ticket.

Radicalization is the rights entire ecosystem. No matter what happens, they will view everything through the same prism and will use it to their advantage, no matter how sinister.

Fox News Anchor: She was divorced from her first husband and lost custody of her two kids.

(cut to video)
Jesse Watters: The woman who lost her life was a self-proclaimed poet from Colorado with pronouns in her bio. A 37year-old white woman named Renee Good. The Daily Mail says she leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage. She was a disruptor, though she considered herself a legal observer, but there's no evidence she had a law degree.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Okay, you want to do this? Want to go after someone's personal life as a rationale for what happened? Here's Jesse Watters a few years ago describing how he met his wife.

(cut to video)
Jesse Watters: When I was trying to get Emma to date me, uh, first thing I did, uh, let the air out of her tires. She couldn't go anywhere. She needed a lift. I said, "Hey, you need a lift?" She hopped right in the car.

(cut to studio)
BTC: And they say chivalry is dead. You know, the only thing that could make this story worse is if instead of describing how he met his wife, he was actually describing how he cheated on his wife with one of his producers that was 14 years younger than him at the time. But behavior like that on the right doesn't get you fired, it gets you promoted or if you're lucky, gets you elected.

Does anyone on the right have a softer way of conveying that this woman had it coming? Perhaps with the aid of a prop that makes them seem completely out of touch?

(cut to video)
GOP Congressman: And all I would say is to all the people out there that don't agree with this administration, don't feel we should enforce federal immigration law, I just recommend that you comply with officer's instructions. If you comply, you will not die.

(cut to studio)
BTC: These are trying to brand it. Yeah, if you comply, you will not die is a pretty catchy slogan, but the success of a slogan often relies on its level of truth. And I think the completely unnecessary deaths of Philando Castile, Terence Crutcher, Daniel Shaver, Douglas Zerby, and Oscar Grant, all of whom complied and still died, would disagree with you.

The reality is the response from this White House and many in the Republican party is just another showcase of how they will do and say anything to hold on to power. A woman gets murdered and the supposed law and order party's first instinct is to not let the facts play out or for an investigation to take place because who needs that when…

(cut to video)
JD Vance: The simple fact is what you see is what you get in this case.

(cut to studio)
BTC: That's right. To rush to judgment and smear her as a human being, to malign her character, to weaponize every single piece of information they can get on her and strategize how her tragic death can be leveraged for political gain. It is fucking Orwellian.

For some reason, a protester who believes having our cities turned into illegally occupied war zones is a lunatic left-wing terrorist that deserves to be shot on site. But protesters who try and overthrow our government, zip tie members of Congress, and hang our vice president. Oh, um, what was it again?

(cut to video)
Trump: Unbelievable patriots. And they were unbelievable patriots and are.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Right. Donald Trump is given the decree that either you fall in line with whatever twisted and unconscionable narrative that he and his minions decide to perpetuate or you'll be kicked out faster than a handsy Lauren Boebert at a Broadway show.

Just today, five Republicans joined with Senate Democrats in voting for the War Powers Resolution, which says if Donald Trump wants to continue to steal oil, uh, sorry, help the people of Venezuela, that he has to go through Congress, the war approving body, first. And you know how Trump responded?

(Trump’s Truth Social post displayed as Brian reads)
"Republicans should be ashamed of the Senators that just voted with Democrats in attempting to take away our Powers to fight and defend the United States of America. Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, Rand Paul, Josh Hawley, and Todd Young should never be elected to office again."

BTC: That's how quickly you are dead to this man. Even if you join the president in cheering on the insurrectionists, it's still not enough. And not only is this merely another shameful display of the dystopian state we find ourselves in, but by doing this they are also showing the nation how much contempt they have for the voters who elected them to office. Because while the video is out there and people can see with their own eyes what happened, Donald Trump, JD Vance, Kristi Noem, and the rest of them want their voters to believe them more than they believe their own eyes. This White House believes that they have their base so groomed, so wrapped around their fingers that they'll swallow any amount of horseshit that's fed to them.

I'm not going to lie, this is one of those days where I am filled with rage and helplessness. And I have a feeling if you're watching this, you are too. Either that or you're washing the dishes and your hands are too wet to click to another video. And so you have to do that thing where you try to swipe using your knuckle, but it doesn't really work out. But those feelings of despair are by design. This administration thrives on a beaten down electorate. When people get frustrated, lose hope, and disengage, they grow stronger. And we can't let that happen. They want us to believe that their efforts are rooted in safety and patriotism, but every single action by them proves otherwise. As a sadistic liar once said,

(cut to video)
JD Vance: "The simple fact is what you see is what you get in this case."

(cut to studio)
BTC: I couldn't agree more.
