Trump snaps, flails in new meltdown - Another Day - Brian Tyler Cohen

BTC: Trump changes his mind on who's to blame for the long lines at America's airports. Truly shocking for a man known for his impeccable consistency. This is just another day.

If you happen to have travel plans coming up, let's say ever, and you're looking for someone to blame for those long TSA lines, Trump has you covered. This morning, the president tweeted, "Blame the Democrats for the airport's mess. They want our country to do badly. They want our country to fail."

Now, I don't necessarily remember this sign from the 2024 DNC (inset image of DNC 2024 Let’s Ruin America), but I guess if Trump is saying it, it must be true. The only problem is I do seem to remember someone from that other party standing in the way of a solution to our airport problems.

Reporter: Despite the chaos at some of the nation's airports, President Trump urged Republicans not to make a deal to end the DHS shutdown unless Democrats back one of his top priorities, a voter ID bill known as the SAVE America Act.

Trump: It should be part of the Homeland Security Bill and I'm requesting that the Republican senators do that immediately. You don't have to take a fast vote. Don't worry about Easter going home.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Well, sure, not going home to see your family is pretty easy to say when you've got this waiting for you (inset photo of Eric Trump). But others might actually want to spend time with the people that they're related to. But now that Americans around the country are growing more and more frustrated, Trump suddenly seems less keen on accepting blame for the things that he just days ago was willing to take the blame for and let's not forget there was a huge deal on the table that Trump could have accepted.

(cut to video from Fox News)
Sen. John Kennedy: Uh we submitted that, Senator Thune submitted that to President Trump uh as is his right. He said no no deals with the Democrats. It would have worked. We could have had TSA paid by the end of the week, but uh the president said no deal.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Hey, Donald Trump is simply following the rules from one of the most informative chapters of his book, Chapter 6, Be a Giant Asshole.

After weeks of Democrats offering to provide relief to members of the TSA, not to mention America's weary travelers by fully funding TSA while continuing the debate over DHS funding, Republicans have still not agreed to a deal. One of the sticking points being Republicans don't want any restrictions attached to the money, while Democrats have politely asked that masked marauders stop shooting unarmed Americans in the streets. But Democrats have some other concerns as well.

(cut to video from CBS Morning News)
Host: What we're learning is that the GOP deal would fund all of DHS except for ICE's enforcement operations. That's the piece that Democrats want to reform. Democrats though rejected the offer, concerned that even partial ICE funding could allow the agency to shift money around and pay for enforcement anyway without the changes they're demanding.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Well, that's a pretty cynical way to look at things. I mean, fiscal responsibility is one of the cornerstones of this Republican party.

(cut to video from PBS NewsHour)
Host: The FBI director Kash Patel is under fire after videos of him chugging a beer and celebrating with the men's US hockey team in Italy yesterday were obtained by multiple news outlets. The FBI had previously argued Patel's trip to Italy was for official travel.

(cut to video from MS NOW)
Jen Psaki: Kristi Noem is flying around at taxpayers expense on this luxury jet you can see right there and Noem is in the process of trying to purchase the jet using $70 million of taxpayer money.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yep. The Democrats have nothing to worry about by trusting the GOP. I have to say it's quite odd for Donald Trump to be pointing fingers right now, especially considering what his vaunted speech writer encouraged him to add to his inauguration speech last year.

(cut to video)
Trump: My proudest legacy will be that of Peacemaker.

Melania Trump: Peacemaker and the unifier.

(cut to studio)
BTC: What would he do without her? Well, let's hear a little bit of that unity in action, shall we?

(cut to video)
Trump: I guess they're getting fairly close, but I I think any deal they make, I'm I'm pretty much not happy with it.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Oh move over, Lincoln. There is a new unifier in town, and thankfully this one's wife isn't the slightest bit crazy.

(cut to video of Melania walking with robot)

BTC: Anyway, now that Trump has publicly deterred his own party from making a deal that doesn't include his SAVE America Act, aka Steal the Midterms Act, Republicans are twisting themselves into knots to justify their actions.

(cut to video from C-SPAN)
Reporter: Uh, but it seems as though Republicans and Democrats are talking past one another right now. Is the only person could solve this the president of the United States? And why isn't he involved?

Mike Johnson: Well, I think he is involved. I mean, I know he had a group of…

Reporter: They down the plan yesterday.

Mike Johnson: Well, that's what's been reported. Okay.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Right. That's what's been reported. And just because we're seeing something on our phones doesn't necessarily mean it's actually happening, which is the same thing, coincidentally, that Mike Johnson told his son over and over again. We can't simply believe our devices every time an alert comes in. Sometimes it's as simple as uh reacting to a typo. You know, like when you're researching shipping routes from the Middle East and you mean to type in the word port and accidentally you type in MILF gangbang.

Now, if you go to the airport, watch the news, or are trying to fill up your car with gas, things might seem bad right now, but don't worry, they might get even worse.

(cut to video from Sinclair Broadcasting)
Kristine Frazao: Looking ahead, the acting TSA chief also warned of a potential perfect storm of severe staffing shortages just as an influx of millions of passengers will be arriving at our airports for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Newly hired officers are required to complete four to six months of training so the impact of this could be felt for the better part of this year.

(cut to studio)
BTC: How about that? By refusing to make inroads with Democrats or even his own party, Donald Trump is going to ruin the World Cup and inflict pain on millions of people around the globe, which frankly has always been his ultimate (inset FIFA video yelling “GOAL”). I was going to say intention, but that'll do.

This is clearly a tense time for our nation. Americans are struggling, which is why it was honestly such a relief to see some cooler heads prevail today.

(cut to video from White House Press Room)
Karoline Leavitt: How many more Americans have to die before the Democrats end this madness?

(cut to studio)
BTC: Well, I for one feel much more relaxed. By the way, is Karoline asking us because I think that's more of a question for Trump's ICE officers.

Now, if anyone is looking for a reason as to why Trump is suddenly pivoting today and casting blame on the Democrats, it is because even his own base is blaming him.

(cut to video from White House Press Room)
Reporter: In my reporting I speak a lot to young voters, many of whom voted for President Trump for the first time in 2024. Um, you know, hoping to have no more wars and to have lower prices. Now, with the war taking place and with gas prices going up, curious what President Trump's message would be to those voters who kind of swung into his coalition in 2024, um, but maybe don't feel the administration's going as they had expected.

Karoline Leavitt: President Trump is doing this for you.

(cut to studio)
BTC: That's so weird. Where have I heard that before?

(cut to video)
Trump: Always remember they are coming after me because I am fighting for you to go to work for you. I am your voice.

(cut to studio)
BTC: Yes. And what an angelic voice it is.

The reality is Donald Trump is not governing. He's campaigning again. Which is odd considering he and his party currently have all the power. The president spends his days and nights telling us that our travel plans, our cities, and our free and fair elections will all be in ruins unless he is given the power to save them. But uh last time I checked, he already has that power.

The truth is all of the problems that Donald Trump is hellbent on solving were created by him. This is like Matt Gaetz pushing legislation to help prevent gross dudes in their 40s from paying underage girls for sex.

It is the president who is causing the long lines at airports. It is this president who is making our cities less safe. And it is this president who is sowing distrust in our elections. So if you're struggling right now and looking for a politician to blame, just remember...

(inset video)
Karoline Leavitt: President Trump is doing this for you.

BTC: I couldn't agree more.
