Panic at CBS as Bari Weiss eyes 'blockbuster sit-down' - https://www.rawstory.com/bari-weiss-blockbuster/
"Reports that embattled CBS News head Bari Weiss is searching for a sympathetic ear among journalists for an interview to clear her name have some in the executive suites in a bit of a panic.
According to media watchdog Status, Weiss is eager to launch a media counter-offensive. She's been in talks with the New York Times' Michael Barbaro about appearing on "The Daily" podcasta choice that reveals her strategy: find a friendly interviewer willing to let her explain away the wreckage.
As Oliver Darcy is reporting, Weiss, who counts Barbaro as "a friend and admirer," even floated his name earlier this year as a potential addition to "CBS Mornings." Now she's leveraging that relationship for what amounts to a high-stakes PR intervention."

Something about not being able to make a silk purse out of a sows ear .

"You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" is an idiom meaning you cannot create something refined or highly valuable from inherently poor or crude materials. It implies that no amount of effort can fundamentally improve something that is intrinsically flawed or of low quality to begin with.

(4,897 posts)5. Bari thinks she was hired because of the value she would add to CBS.
She doesn't get that she was really hired to bury it and she is doing exactly that. The powers that be at CBS want her to fail, but not as fast as would happen if she gets out there and spouts off about herself and the great things she's doing. They want her to quietly fail and bring down the news division in a way that saves face for them.
Her true talent is in repelling people and turning them away from whatever she is associated with. They are using her best talents against the unprofitable news division.
