4. Scott Pelley was fired for "insubordination" because they are Authoritarians at heart.

He didn't see it coming because he is lucky enough to have experienced good management from honorable, intelligent people in his career.

The current management structure of CBS news is "Imperial." It can be a real shock when good, fair minded people hit up against this sort of thing for the first time. I've had this experience a few times in my life and I've always had this shock. It never really occurs to me beforehand that people can be this awful... Scott Pelley is a nice person and would never treat someone else this way, so it just doesn't occur to him that he could be treated as a "subject."

Sorry Mr. Pelley... they aren't going to change.
