a federal govt dept that awarded contracts to weapons suppliers.

During one of our many fly fishing trips, he told me the sad tale of one of his underlings that had not been in the office for over a year, and was still receiving his government (paid by us) paycheck.

Dad initiated the requirements to get him fired. It took him almost two years (in which time the "employee" still received his government paycheck) to finally get the authorization to fire him.

Unions can be lifesavers for those who really need them, but sometimes they are an impediment to justice.
