I think you are quite right in that there are probably plenty of GOP that are thoroughly soured on Trump (in all likelihood would utterly refuse to vote for him again) - but have not yet (and perhaps won't?) reach the point where they are offering public rebuke.

I would imagine these 'uncoupled' voters as still seeing the GOP as a place for viable values and agenda - and quite probably still seeing R candidates out there that they support, and would not wish to see harmed (as in dragged down in the Trump cesspool).

(and then there are others - with clearer vision, but greatly reduced numbers? - that have completely given up on the party lock and stock - yet still might not be at a point where they feel comfortable bashing a movement they once supported?).
