And my Irish grandfather was born in Saratoga County, NY, in 1892, I think. He and his brother signed up to fight for this country in WWI. My grandfather delivered ammunition to the front on horseback (I have his discharge papers) and my great uncle fought at the front and was awarded the Silver Star. My great grandfather's farm is now part of Saratoga Battlefield since one of the buildings was Revolutionary War vintage. My relatives who knew my grandfather all have fond memories of him, but I never met him since he died in 1940 when my Dad was 12. *sigh*
